SPOTLIGHT ON AUSTIN | BRITTNEY NICOLE COSTELLO.

Name: Brittney Nicole Costello

Age: 29

Hometown: Sugar Land, TX

How long have you lived in Austin and what do you do here? I have been a regular frequent visitor for about 4 years.

Describe yourself in 3 words or less: Sheesh!  Hmmmm... Content, Silly, and... Awestruck.

What gets you out of bed each day? My alarm...on its 15th snooze. But really…opportunity. The hope and faith that today will bring something good, and I may have the privilege to take part in it.

What makes Austin special? Music, food, freedom.

Favorite place to caffeinate? Starbuck's! JUUUUST kidding; Halcyon.

Your ultimate Austin weekend… it would definitely include some beautiful blue skies, a little swim at Krause Springs one afternoon, Bloody Mary's from South Congress Cafe, lunch at Elizabeth's, some live music one afternoon, a Bread and Circus Supper Club dinner one evening at the Palm Door, good friends all weekend long, a drink at East Side Showroom, a late night at the Elephant Room for some Jazz and Blues, and a Sunday afternoon movie at Alamo Drafthouse.

Your favorite place to catch some live music? Pretty much any little pub around town. I love…Antone's, Auditorium Shores, Black Heart, Holy Mountain, Easy Tiger, Clive Bar... Oh, the list goes on and on.

And what about a little shimmy? We want to dance tonight… I'm a Texas girl, so although most people wouldn't peg me for it, I am always down for a little 2-step. In Austin, I like to go to Dallas (confusing, I know!), but historic Gruene Hall is just about 25 minutes away and is an incredibly fun venue any night of the week for anyone down for the trip! Any other dancing, you can pretty much find a good vibe anywhere on 6th.  Walking by, most of the bars are a pretty easy read, as far as what they have to offer.

Favorite weekend getaway outside Austin: New Braunfels... My family has had our annual family reunion there for the past 55 years and the hubs and I got married there last July, so it is just really special to me and very comfortable, small-town feel with an amazing river to float and plenty of time to relax and take it easy.

What or who are you listening to at the moment? Alt-J, Lorde (but who isn't!), Beatles--always the Beatles, Zee Avi, Mighty Mountain, Mikky Ekko, The Rubens, Haim, etc. etc.

Words you live by…"seek Good. do Love."
