What brought you to Portland, and how long have you been here? Work. I have been traveling here for work for 2.5 years, and been living here full-time for 1.5 years.

Describe yourself in 3 words or less: Positive, spontaneous, warm-hearted.

What gets you out of bed each day? My morning coffee. A new day. Sunshine.

What makes Portland special? A combination of nature and climate zones (oceans/mountains/glaciers/high desert/rainforest), quality of living, food, coffee, friendly and warm-hearted people, Mt Hood (always there in the background), its amazing bridges, and its size (its not too big).

Best place to caffeinate? Barista in the Pearl - on NW13th – just because it’s really close to my place. Lots of other good spots for coffee, but Barista do the best, and they know me by name – it’s my home coffee spot.

Where can we watch the sun go down: On the coast, in Manzanita – or up North. In Portland, you have to go up to Mt Tabour and hike around to find the best spot. For late-afternoon sun, and a beer, head to the East-side.

Your ultimate Portland weekend… Wake up, coffee in bed, soak up the sunshine, brunch from Grain & Gristle (order the hash), then head out to the coast towards Manzanita, pick up a coffee on the way in Cannon Beach (at the Sleeping Monk), and then check the surf (go to Short Sands), surf, BBQ at a friend’s place on the patio watching the sunset, a few beers, go to one of the local block parties (if there’s one happening), or have some beers on the beach, bed early, morning surf, head back into Portland, lunch and vino at Caffe Allora (NW9th and Glisan St), squeeze in 9 holes at Heron Lakes, head out to Old Gold (on N Killingsworth) and have some beers (order Breakside Brewery beer) in the sun, and then if you still have energy – either dinner at Woodman’s Tavern, or see what’s playing at Dougfir that night.

Favorite live music venue: Dougfir or Crystal Ballroom.

Favorite weekend getaway outside Portland: Manzanita, on the coast (1.5 hour drive). Peaceful little spot.

What's on your stereo at the moment? Mayer Hawthorne, Portugal.The.Man

Words you live by…Today is a good day.
