The story of the estate. São Lourenço do Barrocal has been in the same family for more than 200 years, and it was José António Uva (who is eight generation of the same family) who had a vision to turn the family property into a farm retreat he could share with others. The passion and dedication behind José António’s dream, and what he has created, is incredibly inspiring.

The interiors. Perfectly simple and calming. The interior design was led by José António’s wife Ana’s design studio, AnahoryAlmeida (also responsible for the interiors of many of Lisbon’s finest restaurants) and it is a dream.

Hortelão, their outdoor restaurant. The most beautiful place to dine between Spring through Autumn, this slow-food, farm to fork restaurant is located next to the pool, right by the organic kitchen garden, and is the perfect place to enjoy a dinner under the stars.
Log Box Red Hill
LOG BOX RED HILL
MORNINGTON PENINSULA, VICTORIA • AIRBNB • SLEEPS 2 | 1 BEDROOM | 1 BATH
Log Box Red Hill is one of the most special places I have found on the Mornington Peninsula so far. In the heart of Red Hill's wine country, only minutes to the Peninsula's rugged beaches, Log Box's two darling cabins offer guests an opportunity to disconnect from the busyness of life.
There are two little cabins on the Log Box property. Featured here is Cabin 1. This beautifully rustic cabin is both cosy and super inspiring. The space is beautiful, lovingly curated by host Chloe. A super talented designer - not by trade but by intuition - Chloe has transformed this former milking shed into a luxurious hideout. With raw cypress beams, distressed concrete floors, banquette seating, a beautiful wood heater, stunning artwork (that is always rotating, and is always for sale), luxe amenities and a private deck overlooking the most breathtaking treescape - it’s very beautiful here.
It is definitely recommended you have a car during your stay - the easiest way to get around and explore the surrounding area (and there’s a lot to see). There are a small number of Ubers that operate on the Peninsula as well, along with pre-booked winery shuttles and taxis.
Why I love it
I absolutely love Log Box Red Hill for its beautiful, clean, cosy aesthetic, and all the little touches that have been so thoughtfully considered. The wood fire is amazing, the art (mostly by local artists) that Chloe showcases is amazing (it is also for sale, so you can always take home a beautiful little memento from your stay), the selection of coffee table books is inspiring, the super comfy king bed and bed linen is supreme, and the sunrises from bed, plus the kangaroos that can often be seen outside are all massive highlights for me.
Chloe has put sooo much care and thought into every single detail of this space and it is full of love. You can feel it.
Also, Log Box Red Hill have recently partnered with BRUTZY BOX to offer guests delicious Peninsula-sourced food delivered straight to the cabin. A good option if you don't feel like leaving once you settle in (which can easily happen).
About the owners
Hosts Chloe and Charlie Burgess are absolute legends, as big as legends get. They are the best. Kind, fun (so fun) and so super hospitable, they live on the property together with their 4 children in a separate house just 30m from the cabin and are always on hand should you need anything. They are incredibly warm and beautiful people and always up for a chat or a laugh.
It is always beautiful here when they are around : )
