The story of the estate. São Lourenço do Barrocal has been in the same family for more than 200 years, and it was José António Uva (who is eight generation of the same family) who had a vision to turn the family property into a farm retreat he could share with others. The passion and dedication behind José António’s dream, and what he has created, is incredibly inspiring.

The interiors. Perfectly simple and calming. The interior design was led by José António’s wife Ana’s design studio, AnahoryAlmeida (also responsible for the interiors of many of Lisbon’s finest restaurants) and it is a dream.

Hortelão, their outdoor restaurant. The most beautiful place to dine between Spring through Autumn, this slow-food, farm to fork restaurant is located next to the pool, right by the organic kitchen garden, and is the perfect place to enjoy a dinner under the stars.
Revel & Hide
REVEL & HIDE
COLLINGWOOD (MELBOURNE), VICTORIA • APARTMENT
A perfect urban retreat in the buzzing heart of Melbourne's northside. Revel & Hide is a cosy, design apartment in the beating heart of Collingwood with considered design and thoughtful little touches - the perfect base for exploring all that beautiful Naarm / Melbourne has to offer.
Revel & Hide has everything you need for a peaceful city escap. There is a cute balcony for relaxing in the evening sun, a great kitchen that has you covered from a quick coffee in the morning to a quiet meal in, and then there's the building's rooftop pool which shares an iconic red warehouse view over Collingwood.
There's no TV, but bring your laptop or tablet to stream your favourites, and cosy up in the very, comfy queen size bed. You will find plenty of books, magazines and a bluetooth speaker to help you really set the mood.
Expect small & cosy, but with epic levels of comfort.
Note: Revel & Hide has been created as a retreat for adults (so leave the little ones at home).

Why I love it

I loved my stay at Revel & Hide. It is a perfectly cosy Northside stay - the best base for exploring Fitzroy, Collingwood, and the city of Melbourne. Owners Lisa and Eddie are unbelievably lovely to deal with, and they really have thought of everything to ensure you have a perfect stay. They provide very clear and easy instructions on how to get into the apartment building - get the key from the key box, find the driveway and underground carpark, get up to the apartment etc - and then a super lovely and warm welcome when you arrive inside (with warm lighting, delicious cheese platter, and a complimentary g&t bar (with gin from the Melbourne Gin Company). There are so many thoughtful touches like this throughout.

One of my favourite features was the reusable glass bottle with a hand-written note attached to it suggesting you take the bottle downstairs and get it filled up at GLOU on Smith Street - a sustainable wine dispensary (the first of its kind here in Australia) - run by the lovely Ron and Rahel. They use a special keg to go to the wineries and collect the wine, getting rid of the need for bottle wastage. Such a brilliant idea!
I also love their delightfully cosy bed linen, Hunter bath products, yummy choccie biscuits (I polished off a few of those!), and the very comprehensive list of Melbourne recos, including a suggested 4-day itinerary on where to eat and drink. Brilliant!

It is good to note that you will have the apartment and little balcony all to yourself, but it is part of a larger complex, so there are other apartments all around you. This is city apartment living at its finest.
About the owners

Eddie (a Kiwi) and Lisa (an Aussie) met living in London, and have spent the last 13 years travelling at every opportunity. Lisa says, "the rise of Hosted Home accommodation has been incredible to us - we've stayed in the homes of hosts all around the world and have been blessed with the most memorable experiences. No matter how much research we did before travelling, it was the recommendations from hosts that were always the perfect way to explore a new city. We stepped into our own hosting journey by welcoming travellers to our spare room years ago, to fund our South American adventure. Fast forward to today, and we've found a way to welcome visitors to Melbourne, to experience our very favourite pocket of this incredible city. We've lived in Collingwood for almost a decade, and love nothing more than sharing our favourite places to eat, drink and visit. Revel & Hide is a space to base yourselves, to be able to enjoy all that is happening in our favourite city of the world, with all the comforts needed to retreat and recharge before doing it all again. Nestled away behind Smith St, with incredible bars, restaurants, cafes, artist studios and boutiques right on your doorstep, with a killer guide to all the sights created especially for you. "
