The story of the estate. São Lourenço do Barrocal has been in the same family for more than 200 years, and it was José António Uva (who is eight generation of the same family) who had a vision to turn the family property into a farm retreat he could share with others. The passion and dedication behind José António’s dream, and what he has created, is incredibly inspiring.

The interiors. Perfectly simple and calming. The interior design was led by José António’s wife Ana’s design studio, AnahoryAlmeida (also responsible for the interiors of many of Lisbon’s finest restaurants) and it is a dream.

Hortelão, their outdoor restaurant. The most beautiful place to dine between Spring through Autumn, this slow-food, farm to fork restaurant is located next to the pool, right by the organic kitchen garden, and is the perfect place to enjoy a dinner under the stars.
Seatons
SEATONS
TATHRA, NEW SOUTH WALES • BEACH HOUSE • SLEEPS 8 | 3 BEDROOM | 2 BATH
Seatons is a very special place. Found on Wildlife Drive in the coastal township of Tathra on New South Wales' Sapphire Coast, Seatons is a much-loved family home that offers guests a light-filled, spacious, relaxed environment from which to rest and rejuvenate.
The Seaton family has a very long history with the Tathra area. Bound for Tathra beach, the gang of kids would pile into the back of the Valiant (actually the back and the front, wherever 7 kids could fit), dreaming of ice creams and the opportunity to bask in the 1970s sunshine. Owner Libby Seaton was one of those kids. Libby always dreamt of creating her own place in the area, and in 2017 she returned to Tathra and purchased ’Seatons’. It has been a while since the 70s, but the reason the Seaton family do what they do stays grounded in those incredible years. Seatons has become their escape and they love it dearly, it gives them the greatest joy to share it with treasured guests who love it when they can't.
Sleeping up to 8 guests (when the whole house is opened up), the house can also just be booked for a couple - with only one bedroom being opened up and the rest closed of. In either case, it's the perfect home to accommodate a small group or something larger.
The views from the house out to Tathra beach are incredible, and it's only a short walk down to the beachfront and the Wharf. The sunsets are also magical from Seatons. The house is flooded with natural light and comes complete with so many thoughtful touches - books, games, an open fire, fully-stocked kitchen, the works. It's the kind of place you will find hard to leave.
Why I love it
I love Seatons for many reasons. Firstly, host Gab is such a dream. So quick to respond to any queries, and so warm and lovely to deal with. Gab loves her family holiday home so much and delights in sharing it with others. Her passion for beautiful Tathra is palpable. I also love the way the house is drenched with light all throughout the day. I love having a g&t on the deck while the sun goes down over the ocean, or lighting a fire on those colder nights. The bed is super comfy and the linens are lovely. The kitchen is exceptionally well-stocked, making cooking at home a real treat, and there are some wonderful books and games to choose from as well.
It really is the perfect Aussie beach house.
About the owners
Gab (Libby Seaton's daughter) is your host at Seatons. Incredibly kind and quick to respond, she is a wonderfully warm and friendly host. As mentioned above, the Seaton family's connection with Tathra runs deep - way back to the 70s when Libby Seaton and her family would holiday there as kids. The fact that they now open up their dear Seatons to other guests is a testament to how much they love this slice of the Sapphire Coast and want to share it with others. It's a beautiful place and they are beautiful people.
Gab is also a talented photographer. Her work can be found here.
