North Stradbroke Island (Queensland, Australia)
The ancestral home of the Quandamooka people, Minjerribah / North Stradbroke Island is an incredibly slow and laid-back island off the coast of Brisbane. Having heard about its amazing beaches, ripping waves, and low key island vibes for years I was pretty happy to finally reach its shores last December. And it didn't disappoint.
You definitely need a car. Just take it over on the ferry with you. I would definitely recommend staying in Point Lookout (Airbnb is best) and if you only have a few days to spare, plan your visit from Thursday onwards (as a few of the local businesses close on the first few days of the week).
There is so much beauty to be found here. I hope you love it as much as I do. Enjoy!
